Load borne by the slider during operation

If the selected linear guide rail is insufficiently rigid, the preload can be increased, the size can be increased, or the number of sliders can be increased to improve rigidity. The static safety factor is defined as the ratio of the static rated load to the working load. It is worth mentioning that two-row gothic-arch linear guide rails can withstand forces and moments in all directions and are more commonly used in light or medium load applications, especially when the lateral load is large. Four-row arc-shaped linear guides are more commonly used in heavy or super-heavy load applications; the arc shape has the ability to absorb assembly surface errors. However, if impact loads occur, gothic-arch linear guide rails should be selected.
Chain guides, also known as chain guide components, chain slides, chain supports, chain guide grooves, chain guide bars, Baidu chain support rails, chain guide sliders, and chain guide wear strips, are used in linear reciprocating motion applications. Coating machinery-specific chain guides have a higher rated load than linear bearings and can also handle a certain amount of torque, enabling high-precision linear motion under high loads.
The machine tool crossbeam guide Y-axis installation method uses a one-flat-one-side (top-flat-bottom-side installation design). The THK guide slider's top guide is placed flat to support the main spindle box slide, while the side placement resists rotational torque during machining. Domestic counterparts typically use a two-guide side-placement structure to save processing costs; this method is faster and cheaper, as the two guides are on one surface, eliminating the need for tool changes or directional changes for one-time processing. Our method requires a change of direction; for example, a milling machine requires a right-angle head to process. Furthermore, the top guide slider has a large contact surface, resulting in high precision retention. The side-placed guide slider only has a small portion of the side in contact, making installation scraping and adjustment faster, thereby reducing assembly costs.
The load on the slider during operation is not always uniform. For example, in a conveying device, the device bears additional weight of the goods when moving forward, but only bears the weight of the device itself when returning; the load changes stepwise. Therefore, the average load during operation must be determined to calculate the service life. The average load is defined as the equivalent load value with a service life equal to that under variable load conditions.
