Characteristics of Ball Screws

Ball screws are ideal products for converting rotary motion into linear motion, or linear motion into rotary motion. A ball screw consists of a screw, a nut, and balls. Its function is to convert rotary motion into linear motion, which is a further extension and development of the ball screw. The important significance of this development is to change the bearing from rolling motion to sliding motion. Due to its very small frictional resistance, the ball screw is widely used in various industrial equipment and precision instruments.
Ball screws consist of a screw, nut, steel balls, preload plates, reverse devices, and dust covers. Its characteristics include:
- Low friction loss: Because there are many balls rolling between the screw shaft and the screw nut of the ball screw pair, high transmission efficiency can be obtained. Compared with the past sliding screw pair, the driving torque is reduced to less than 1/3, that is, the power required to achieve the same motion result is 1/3 of that using the sliding screw pair.
- Appropriate preload: Eliminates axial clearance and improves axial stiffness.
- Smooth movement: The ball screw pair is a point contact rolling motion, with low frictional resistance, high sensitivity, no vibration during operation, and no creeping phenomenon at low speeds.
- High precision: The ball screw pair is produced continuously using the world's highest-level mechanical equipment manufactured in Japan. In particular, in terms of the factory environment for grinding, assembly, and inspection procedures, temperature and humidity are strictly controlled. Due to the well-established quality management system, it has high precision and high reliability.
- Long service life: The ball screw pair uses high-precision ball screw-specific bearings, which are stable and reliable in mechanical performance. Even after prolonged use, there is almost no increase in clearance, so the high precision of the machine tool can be maintained.
- Good synchronization: Because the ball screw pair has reversible movement, it can convert rotary motion into linear motion, and linear motion into rotary motion. Therefore, one screw, nut, and nut seat can meet various transmission requirements.
