THK linear guide HSR series steel balls roll along the LM rail and LM slide block via four rows of rolling surfaces; the steel ball row circular motion is achieved through the end cover plate assembled on the LM slide block. Because the steel balls are held in place by a retainer plate, the steel balls will not fall off even if the LM slide block is pulled out from the LM rail, except for HSR8, 10, and 12 models.

 

Each steel ball row is designed with a contact angle of 45 degrees to allow the four directions of action on the LM slide block to have the same rated load, so it can be used in any posture. Moreover, because uniform pre-pressure can be applied, the friction coefficient is kept low while the rigidity is enhanced. In addition, stable high-precision linear motion can be achieved.

Due to severe rusting at the mounting points of the slider and rail, it was difficult to remove the slider when disassembling it, which may have caused the damage to the linear guide rail. When we tried moving it again after replacing it with a new slider, the movement was still very poor. It is estimated that simply replacing the slider would not only cause it to be damaged again, but may also damage the rail and rack.
