Pneumatically operated normally open grippers work on the principle of pneumatic control. Without air pressure, the gripper remains open, ensuring smooth production line operation. Upon receiving a pneumatic signal, the gripper quickly closes, using a wedge block amplification principle to tighten the gripping mechanism via air pressure. The gripper is compatible with various brands of linear guides, such as THK, HIWIN, and HTPM linear guides.
 

As shown in the diagram, the gripper consists of a gripper body, actuator, clamping element, and contact element. It is a high-performance functional component used with rolling (THK) linear guide units and linear shafts, with functions such as fixing the worktable, precise positioning, vibration prevention, and increased rigidity.

The normally open gripper has four mounting holes. A connecting component is needed between it and the slider; this is where the connection is made via these mounting holes.

The area indicated by the red box in the diagram is the gripper's contact element, which provides emergency clamping functionality.

It was visually apparent that the linear guide rail was damaged. When the equipment on the guide rail was lifted with a crowbar and the slider was removed, it was found to be damaged. Due to severe rusting at the mounting points of the slider and rail, it was difficult to remove the slider when disassembling it, which may have caused the damage to the linear guide rail. When we tried moving it again after replacing it with a new slider, the movement was still very poor. It is estimated that simply replacing the slider would not only cause it to be damaged again, but may also damage the rail and rack. Therefore, we informed the customer of the current condition of the equipment, the repair method and the quotation, and persuaded the customer to carry out further repairs. Repair process The equipment was lifted with a crowbar, and wooden blocks were placed under the workbench to prevent the equipment above from falling, and then the slider was removed.
