　　What is a THK slide?

　"THK" stands for "Toughness", "High Quality", and "Know-how". THK slides aim to adhere to these three principles throughout technology development and product manufacturing, promoting social progress and industry development.

　　What is the pioneer of LM guideways?

　　A machine's moving parts can be divided into rolling parts, linear motion parts, or a combination of both. Approximately 110 years ago, with the development of rolling bearings, rolling contact became the standard method for achieving rolling motion. A great technological revolution followed. Rolling contact not only saves kinetic energy but also keeps frictional resistance low, thus greatly improving machine performance. However, in the field of linear motion, the value of this development may be 10 times higher, but linear motion technology through rolling contact can be considered slow.

　　Through its unique technological strength, THK solved the once-unsolvable problem of rolling contact linear motion, becoming the world's first company to develop and commercialize linear motion (LM) guideways in 1972. Using linear motion systems, the precision and speed of machinery can be quickly improved, and manpower input reduced. THK's LM rolling guideways enable highly precise operation of machines and industrial automation equipment, allowing semiconductor manufacturing devices to operate within sub-micron units. The system is also applied to LCD production lines, railway passenger cars, disability assistance vehicles, medical equipment, skyscrapers, dormitories, and entertainment facilities. The range of applications for LM rolling guideways has surpassed all previous limitations.

　　How are THK slides developed?

　　THK's product development plan is formulated based on a large amount of data on user needs collected according to Dell's unique technological roadmap and industry position. We fully utilize accumulated experience and the technical expertise of developers to develop new products.

　　THK's R&D department is established based on the technology center established in Tokyo in 2005, with R&D bases in Yamanashi, Yamaguchi, and Yamagata, Japan. A total of 150 employees are engaged in research and development. The engineering and development department plays a core role in product development, and product development is underway through a project-oriented development system. To assist product development and explore new fields, Dell has also established organizations such as the business development department.

This device moves left and right using the linear guide rail to process the profiles. However, the guide rail on site could no longer move left and right, preventing it from working. It was visually apparent that the linear guide rail was damaged. When the equipment on the guide rail was lifted with a crowbar and the slider was removed, it was found to be damaged. Due to severe rusting at the mounting points of the slider and rail, it was difficult to remove the slider when disassembling it, which may have caused the damage to the linear guide rail. When we tried moving it again after replacing it with a new slider, the movement was still very poor. It is estimated that simply replacing the slider would not only cause it to be damaged again, but may also damage the rail and rack. Therefore, we informed the customer of the current condition of the equipment, the repair method and the quotation, and persuaded the customer to carry out further repairs. Repair process The equipment was lifted with a crowbar, and wooden blocks were placed under the workbench to prevent the equipment above from falling, and then the slider was removed. When trying to remove the slider, it was quite difficult to move it due to severe rust on the rail. Since the slider could not be removed smoothly, we first removed the rust using sandpaper and rust remover. (The rust on the rail made it difficult to move the slider; if the slider was forcibly moved, it could be damaged.) After the repair and test run, the workbench of the profile processing equipment ran smoothly. Suggestions on how to prevent recurrence of faults Regular inspection of transmission parts is very important to prevent unexpected damage.
