Purchase Notes: THK guides solved the once-considered unsolvable problem of rolling contact linear motion, becoming the world's first company to develop and commercialize linear motion (LM) guides in 1972. Using our linear motion systems can quickly improve the precision and speed of advanced mechatronic equipment, saving labor costs. THK's LM rolling guides enable high-precision operation of machine tools and industrial automation machinery and allow semiconductor manufacturing equipment to operate in ultra-small devices. The ball bearings roll on the four rows of rolling grooves of the ground LM rail and LM slide block, and then each row of ball bearings circulates through the end cap plate installed on the LM slide block. Because the balls are supported by the retainer plates, the balls will not fall off even if the LM slide block is pulled off the LM rail (except for HSR8, 10, 12). In order to make the LM slide block have the same rated load in four directions (radial, anti-radial, lateral), each ball array is designed with a 45° contact angle, regardless of the posture. Moreover, due to the equal pre-tightening force, not only a lower friction coefficient can be maintained, but also the stiffness in the four directions can be strengthened. At the same time, due to the low cross-section height and high rigidity design of the LM slide block, stable and high-precision linear motion can be obtained.
A mechanical component composed of ball bearings and other parts, its function is to convert rotary motion into linear motion, or linear motion into rotary motion, which is a further development of traditional sliding lead screws. The profound significance of this development is the same as the change that rolling bearings bring to sliding bearings.
