Introduction to the Rated Dynamic and Static Loads and Lifespan of HTPM Guangdong Kate
I. Rated Dynamic and Static Loads and Lifespan
The working principle of a rolling linear guide is similar to that of a rolling bearing. Steel balls continuously roll on a circular arc raceway under a certain load. Therefore, rolling linear guides also have various failure modes similar to rolling bearings, such as contact fatigue wear, corrosion, overheating, reduced accuracy, and vibration. Many of these are due to improper selection, application, or maintenance.
Some failure modes, such as contact fatigue, are impossible to completely avoid. It is generally believed that if the installation is correct, lubrication is appropriate, and there is no entry of harmful media or high temperature influence, and the load is moderate, the main failure mode of the rolling linear guide is fatigue spalling of the raceway surface layer caused by repeated compressive stress, i.e., contact fatigue.
The rated dynamic and static loads in the sample size table are calculated according to the formulas in international standards ISO 14728-1 and 14728-2:
1. Rated dynamic load C
The load that 90% of guide components of the same structure and size can withstand when operating under the same conditions and achieving or exceeding a specific travel distance.
2. Rated static load C0
The static load value when the total plastic deformation at the point of maximum contact stress between the rolling element and the raceway is equal to one ten-thousandth of the rolling element diameter.
3. Static load safety factor S0
When the rolling linear guide is stationary or running, it may be subjected to external forces such as inertial forces or torques caused by vibration, impact, or violent start-stop. For such applications, the static load safety factor needs to be considered to confirm whether the selected guide model is suitable.
II. Lifespan
Under the same working conditions, a batch of guide components with the same structure and size are run separately. Before fatigue occurs in 90% of the guide components, the sum of the sliding distance of the slider relative to the guide or the working hours under a certain speed.
In actual guide systems, in order to fully utilize the performance of rolling linear guides, the hardness of the raceway surface in contact with the steel balls should be between HRC58 and 64.
If the surface hardness of the raceway is low, the rated dynamic load will decrease, and the rated lifespan of the guide will be reduced. Therefore, the rated dynamic load and rated static load of the guide should be multiplied by the hardness factor fH.
The above is an introduction to the rated dynamic and static loads and lifespan of the HTPM Kate linear guide series. Welcome to inquire if you want to learn more!
